The main component of water-soluble organic silicon building waterproofing agent is sodium methylsilicate solution (which can also be sodium ethylsilicate solution). It is hydrolyzed with 95% methyltrichlorosilane (containing 5% dimethyldichlorosilane) or high boiling point methyl monomer in a large amount of water, and then the resulting solid powder is filtered and washed with a large amount of water to obtain wet methylsilicic acid; Methyl silicate is mixed with an equimolar aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide, and the mixture is heated and dissolved at 90-95 ° C for 2 hours. Then, water is added and filtered to obtain an alkaline aqueous solution of sodium methylsilicate.
Application of Organic Silicon Building Waterproofing Agent
Organic silicon building waterproofing agents can be applied by spraying, brushing, or impregnating methods, with a suitable concentration of 2% to 3% containing organic silicon (calculated as CH3Si01. s). The coating area of each liter of sodium methylsilicate waterproofing agent is 6-10m2. Another characteristic of silicone building waterproofing agents is their breathability. This provides a guarantee for the escape of excess water in concrete mixtures, avoiding matrix cracking and damage caused by other waterproof coatings blocking the pores.
Sodium methylsilicate building waterproofing agent is generally sold at a concentration of 30%, and can be diluted with water to a 3% solution when used. The final solution concentration depends on the application situation. Sodium methylsilicate organic silicon building waterproofing agent can be used in the following aspects:
Bricks: increase water resistance and reduce water absorption rate;
Concrete sidewalks and lanes: increasing durability by improving their frost resistance and freeze-thaw resistance;
Natural and synthetic stones such as limestone, sandstone, pre cast stones, and ceramics: reduce weathering and improve weather resistance;
Roof sand layer: Improve the ability to resist dirt and increase the adhesion between asphalt and sand layer;
Mineral aggregates with high water absorption capacity such as perlite: reduce water absorption rate;
Various asbestos products, including insulation tiles: reduce water absorption to maintain higher strength in wet environments;
Used as an additive for clay or ceramics: reduces water demand, thereby increasing its wet strength;
Used as an additive for sodium silicate (water glass) coatings, pastes, pipeline insulation materials, and wall panels to improve water repellent performance;
Latex paint and ceramic tiles: improve strength and water resistance adhesion, with an initial usage concentration of 0.1% to 1%;
Hydrophobic agent used as soil stabilizer and water retaining agent, with an initial usage concentration of 3%.
In addition to the above-mentioned applications, it can also be used as a waterproofing agent for wood, fiberboard, paper, and processed products, but it must be neutralized with aluminum sulfate or aluminum nitrate before use.
