Polydimethylsiloxane, (Polydimethylsiloxane), is a hydrophobic silicone material. It is used in various fields such as medicine, daily chemical products, food, construction, etc. Its derivatives have reached hundreds of kinds. The commonly used polysiloxanes are mainly: polydimethylsiloxane, cyclomethicone , Aminosiloxane, polymethylphenylsiloxane, polyether polysiloxane copolymer, etc. Among them, cyclomethicone is one of the commonly used polysiloxanes.

Physical and chemical properties
The chemical state of polydimethylsiloxane Dimethicone, depending on the relative molecular weight, varies in appearance from colorless and transparent volatile liquid to extremely high viscosity liquid or silica gel. It is odorless, highly transparent, heat-resistant and cold-resistant. Resistance, viscosity, small change with temperature, water resistance, small surface tension, thermal conductivity, thermal conductivity of 0.134-0.159W/(m·K), light transmittance is 100%, dimethyl silicone oil is non-toxic and tasteless , It has physiological inertness and good chemical stability. Good electrical insulation, weather resistance, hydrophobicity, and high shear resistance. It can be used for a long time at -50℃~200℃. With excellent physical properties, it can be directly used for moisture-proof insulation, damping, shock absorption, defoaming, lubrication, polishing, etc. It is widely used as insulation lubrication, shockproof, oil dustproof, dielectric fluid and heat carrier. And used as defoaming, release agent, paint and daily chemical additives.
Polydimethylsiloxane can be mixed with lanolin, stearyl alcohol, cetyl alcohol, glyceryl monostearate, Tween, Span and other surfactants to be used as an emulsion base. Adding film forming agents such as PVP, PVA and cellulose derivatives to this product can enhance its protective properties. The drug release and skin penetration performance is faster than dolphin, lanolin and petrolatum.

Application field
The combination of low application, surface tension, easy spreading, and suitable viscosity gives personal care products a lubricious, greasy feel and makes the skin soft. It has anti-foaming, defoaming and anti-foaming effects, and prevents "whitening" when applying products. Different products need to choose different viscosity. The higher the viscosity, the greater the oiliness. The low viscosity gives the skin a dry feeling. Due to its depositability, the dosage is lower in cosmetic formulations. The characteristics of the product can be adjusted by using different viscosity grades of polydimethylsiloxane compound. [1]

Leather goods
Polydimethylsiloxane can be used for fiber and leather: water repellent, softener, feel improver, defoamer in dyeing industry, and lubrication of sewing thread. The emulsion can be applied to the fatliquoring of leather, thereby enhancing the hydrophobicity, softness and comfort of the leather. Using it to treat the leather surface can enhance abrasion resistance, water resistance and mold release.
Polydimethylsiloxane is suitable for use as a brightener component in automobiles, furniture, shoes, cement products, etc., including car brighteners, foam furniture cleaners, vinyl roof cleaners, and brightening formulations for building materials. The least amount can achieve the best results.
Release agent
Polydimethylsiloxane can be used as a release agent for rubber or plastic products (brake plates, screws, plugs, etc.) and EVA shoe materials. It can be used directly or diluted 10-200 times with low-hardness water. The product is highly efficient, Stable and extremely versatile.
Polydimethylsiloxane can be used as a lubricant for extruding rubber products such as conveyor belts. It can be used as a lubricant in the following textile processes: weaving yarn, suture lubrication, socks and underwear production, suture needle lubrication, glass fiber filter.

Other areas
Polydimethylsiloxane is a food-grade defoamer, which can be used for medicine and food brewing and defoaming during fermentation time. Because it is non-toxic and does not cause physiological reactions in the human body, it is also used as a medical antifoaming agent for the treatment of acute pulmonary edema and flatulence. The substance called silicones (or silicone oil) in pharmaceutics monographs is a general term for a class of organic silicon oxide polymers. Dimethicone is only one of its commonly used medicines. In addition, there are ethyl silicone oil, methyl phenyl silicone oil, wax-containing silicone oil and so on. In the tablet polishing agent insect wax, a small amount of this product is often added to enhance the brightness and moisture resistance of the one-sided surface. In the ointment, this product is an ideal hydrophobic base because it has good lubricity, is easy to apply, does not stain clothing, does not interfere with the normal function of the skin, etc. It is often used in combination with a grease base to make a protective ointment to prevent irritation or corrosion of water-soluble substances, acids, lyes, etc.
