Properties and Types of Silicone Adhesives

Oct 26, 2021

The basic properties of silicone adhesives Organic silicone adhesives have unique heat and low temperature resistance, good electrical properties and weather resistance, chemical stability, hydrophobic and moisture resistance, oxidation resistance, workability, sealability, breathability In a wide temperature range, the electrical properties change very little, and the dielectric loss is low. It can be made into high-grade sealing material, mainly used for sealing bonding of window glass and glass curtain wall. At present, there are mainly one-component, two-component, flame-retardant and high temperature resistant silicone sealants. At present, China consumes about 10,000 tons of silicone sealants each year. According to the requirements of the product in different occasions, design and manufacture organosilicon materials with different molecular structures, such as: ①change the molecular structure of the polysiloxane main chain; ②change the organic group bound to the silicon atom; ③select different types of reactions And curing method; ④Use organic resin to modify; ⑤Choose various fillers; ⑥Choose various secondary processing technologies; ⑦Use various copolymerization technologies, etc., and then develop into various purposes organic silicone adhesives.
Types of silicone adhesives Over the past 50 years, more than 2,000 types of silicone products have been developed abroad, and about 1,000 are commonly used. However, two types of adhesives are mainly room temperature curing silicone rubber (RTV) and low temperature curing silicone rubber (LTV). Their uses are roughly classified as follows.
(1) Adhesive Adhesive fixing and sealing of components.
(2) Coating, heat-proof, dust-proof, ozone-proof and ultraviolet ray.
(3) Potting, moisture-proof, dust-proof, anti-corona arc discharge, shock absorption and buffering.

RTV silicone rubber can be divided into one-component and two-component according to the formation, and can be divided into condensation type and addition type according to the curing reaction.

The curing speed of the condensation type (especially the one-component type) is related to the concentration and temperature of the moisture in the air, and heating alone cannot accelerate the curing. Among the condensed silicone rubbers, dealcoholization and acetone removal are mainly used for electronic and electrical components. The deoxime type emits condensation reaction products during curing.

Organic silicone adhesives are mainly used as adhesives for metals and heat-resistant non-metal materials, heat-resistant rubber or rubber-metal adhesives, heat-insulating and sound-insulating materials and steel or titanium alloy adhesives, and pressure-sensitive adhesives Wait.

1. Organic silicon modified acrylate inorganic nano composite emulsion and its preparation method
The emulsion contains nano-SiO2, TiO2, ZnO, CaCO3 and other inorganic phases in the silicone-acrylic emulsion particles, and is prepared by a two-step polymerization method of inverse emulsion polymerization emulsion polymerization. Due to the micro-size effect, surface effect, quantum effect, filling effect and catalytic properties of inorganic nanoparticles, it can effectively improve the mechanical properties, anti-fouling properties, self-cleaning properties, and antistatic properties of silicone-acrylic emulsion coatings. Due to the in-situ polymerization technology, graft polymerization is carried out on the surface of inorganic nanoparticles, which enhances the interaction between the polymer and the inorganic nanoparticles. Compared with physical blending, it not only improves the stability of the emulsion, but also imparts excellent performance to the silicone-acrylic emulsion. However, energy consumption will be relatively high, and when nanotechnology is used, the equipment will be more expensive and the cost will be relatively high.

2. Preparation of cross-linked polysiloxane/polyacrylate composite emulsion
In the presence of methacryloxypropyltrimethoxysilane, cross-linked polysiloxane as seed, acrylate monomer as the second monomer, azobisisobutyronitrile as initiator, batch method is adopted respectively , Swelling method and semi-continuous method to prepare polysiloxane/polyacrylate composite emulsion. This kind of polymerization system has good cross-linking, good connection performance, easy access to raw materials, simple production method and simple equipment. However, the equipment needs to be cleaned frequently, and the production cycle is long.
