There are few silicone-free compounds inthe new cosmetic formulations, and the use of silicone compounds in personalcare products has achieved significant growth. In addition, even with the mostadvanced technology of the formulator, still inevitably use siloxane.
Silicone polymers consist of differenttypes of compounds, including conventional silicone oils, water-solublepolymers, oil-soluble polymers, fluorine-soluble polymers, and polymers withvarious solubility. They exist in a variety of forms, from low viscosity fluidsto elastomeric elastomers as well as synthetic resins. It is indeed difficultto make a choice. However, there may be too many choices if there is not a goalto help you select a formulator-friendly siloxane for a particular application.
However, understanding the siloxanetechnology and its structure-activity relationship is no more complex, butequally important and flexible than the technical basis for the production ofsurfactants (wetting agents).
