Market Demand and Development Prospects of Silicone Resin Materials

Silicone resin materials are a kind of polymer materials with silicon-oxygen bonds as the main chain structure and organic groups as side groups. It has excellent thermal oxidation stability and insulation properties. Its service temperature can reach 200℃~220℃, and its heat resistance can even reach 250℃~300℃ after modification. At the same time, its molecular structure is close to that of silicate. It is a semi-inorganic polymer, so it has excellent insulating properties, with a dielectric strength of 50MV/m, a volume resistivity of 1013~1015Ω·cm, and a dielectric constant of about 3. The dielectric loss tangent value is about 10-3, which fully meets the requirements of the insulating materials required for class C motors. In addition to the above characteristics, the C-level solvent-free silicone dipping varnish also has the following four advantages:

 ①It has flame retardancy, which is not available in other organic insulating materials; ②It has waterproof and moisture-proof properties, and is resistant to water after being immersed in water. The insulation performance remains basically unchanged, and its excellent insulation under wet conditions is incomparable to any organic resin; ③It has better corona resistance than ordinary organic resin materials; ④It is a pollution-free green environmental protection insulating material, so Class C solvent-free organic silicon impregnating varnish is a new type of insulation with great development prospects. The research and development of this new class C insulation material is of great significance.

During the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" period, the Ministry of Railways will develop and produce 3,500 six-axle high-speed trains, which means that 12,000 high-power AC variable frequency traction motors will be required. The insulation system will all adopt the above-mentioned Class C insulation system. It is expected that each motor will use 25kg Composite mica tape and solvent-free silicone impregnating varnish of more than 15kg. In addition, this type of C-class insulation system is also used on auxiliary transformers of high-speed trains. The market prospects for the development of high-speed trains are very broad, but up to now, the insulation materials used in this insulation system have not been self-sufficient, relying on imports, and not only are expensive, in order to change this passive situation, it is necessary for us to develop such products independently , 

To break the domestic monopoly of foreign companies in this field. The development of the insulation system will provide conditions for the high-speed and heavy-duty development of my country's railway traction motors, and lay a solid foundation for the insulation industry and related industries such as the motor manufacturing industry to be in line with international standards. Therefore, the current key task of our country is to develop new H-C grade non-polluting insulating varnishes for electric locomotives, aviation motors and other special motors. Grade C solvent-free organic silicon impregnating varnish is the current development focus in China.

Since there will be a relatively long period of testing and verification for the use of insulating materials above the C level in China, we will have some resistance in the promotion and application in 2007 and the first half of 2008. However, with the country’s development of high-power traction motors With increasing efforts to introduce, digest, absorb and re-innovate, our products will surely be promoted and used as long as they meet the requirements.

As early as the mid-1980s, some developed countries had mass-produced Class C variable frequency motors with a heat resistance rating of 200-240°C. The domestic traction motor did not complete the H-class insulation structure until the early 1990s. The development and industrialization of C-level solvent-free organic silicon impregnating varnish can not only improve the manufacturing level of traction motors, but also promote the development and application of my country's C-level insulating materials, narrowing the gap with foreign countries.
