Classification and Use of Coupling Agents

Coupling agent is also called surface modifier. It can reduce the viscosity of the synthetic resin melt in the plastic processing process, improve the dispersion of the filler to improve the processing performance, and then make the product obtain good surface quality and mechanical, thermal and electrical properties.

1. Classification of coupling agent
According to the chemical structure and composition of the coupling agent, it is divided into four categories: organic chromium complexes, silanes, titanates and aluminates:

Chromium complex coupling
The chromium complex coupling agent was developed in the early 1950s. The metal chromium complex formed by unsaturated organic acid and trivalent chromium ion has mature synthesis and application technology and low cost, but the variety is relatively simple-- .

A silane coupling agent

Other coupling agents
The zirconium coupling agent is a low molecular weight inorganic polymer containing zirconium aluminate. It can not only promote the adhesion between different substances, but also improve the performance of the composite material system, especially the rheological properties. This type of coupling agent is not only suitable for a variety of thermosetting resins, but also for a variety of thermoplastic resins. In addition, there are magnesium coupling agents and tin coupling agents.

Application areas, main functions:
