Advantages of Silicone Resin Release Coating

Sep 6, 2024

Anti stick release coating
Since the emergence of organosilicon polymers, people have found that they have many special properties, especially as release agents, such as silicone resin, silicone oil, and silicone rubber, which can all be used as release agents. The choice of material as a release agent in use mainly depends on its economy, service life, and ease of application.
The anti sticking and demoulding properties of silicone resin are similar to silicone oil and silicone oil lotion. It has the function of demoulding and anti sticking, and can be used as anti sticking and demoulding coating. The main difference is that silicone resin can form a layer of semi permanent film on the treated substrate or on the molding mold after curing by using reactivity, crosslinking and film-forming properties. Therefore, the effect of using silicone resin as anti sticking and demoulding agent is better than silicone oil, silicone oil lotion and silicone rubber demoulding agent. It can be used for many times or even hundreds of times without replacing or recoating.
By using methods such as spray painting, brushing, and dipping, the coating solution is applied to the surface of the material to be treated. After the solvent evaporates, it is heated and cured to obtain a tough resin film. The silicone resin coating used for demolding is usually a dilute solution of low R/Si ratio silicone resin dissolved in aromatic or mixed solvents of aliphatic hydrocarbons and aromatic hydrocarbons. The non-volatile content of silicone resin varnish is generally 15% to 30%. Usually, it also contains a small amount of silicone oil to prevent thermal cracking of the silicone resin film. In order to achieve the best demolding effect and ensure firm adhesion of the coating, the surface of the metal mold must be cleaned and degreased by sandblasting.

The main advantages of silicone resin release coating are:
CD has good heat resistance and is not easily evaporated or decomposed on the mold when heated. It has good resistance to thermal oxidation and chemical stability, and is particularly corrosive to the mold, eliminating the need for demolding lubricants and labor costs;
The intermolecular forces are small, the surface tension is low, and it is immiscible and non adhesive with most organic polymer materials. It has no side effects on the product, making the surface of the product smooth, improving quality and yield, and reducing the rate of defective products.
The main advantages of silicone resin release coating include good heat resistance, resistance to thermal oxidation and chemical stability, non corrosiveness to molds, and elimination of release lubricants and production costs.
It can reduce the material and labor costs required for applying lubricating grease, making it safe and convenient.
Non toxic, odorless, suitable for the food and pharmaceutical industries.
Make it easier to keep the mold and cavity clean and reduce harmful smoke;
Extend the service life of metals, molds, and cavities.

Paper heat-treated with organic silicon resin solution containing curing agent has non adhesiveness and can be used as an intermediate isolation layer for pressure-sensitive adhesive tape or self-adhesive trademarks, or as packaging paper for sticky items; Stainless steel baking pans for home cooking can also be coated with silicone resin to prevent food from sticking.
